Our Story

Building a Safer Future on Nigeria’s Waterways

Founded in response to the growing need for coordinated waterway safety efforts, SWAAADO emerged from a coalition of concerned citizens, safety experts, and community leaders who witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of preventable waterway accidents across Nigeria.

Our organization recognizes that Nigeria’s inland waterways are not just transportation routes—they are lifelines for communities, sources of livelihood for thousands, and integral parts of our national heritage. Yet for too long, safety on these waterways has been inadequate, resulting in tragic losses that could have been prevented.

SWAAADO was established to bridge the gap between awareness and action, bringing together stakeholders from all sectors to create comprehensive, sustainable solutions to waterway safety challenges.
